Mycocement Сoating Maintenance

Initial care of microcement after laying

The lacquer used to cover the microcement contains polymer resins. It takes 2 weeks for it to fully polymerize and harden. Only then it becomes completely waterproof and resistant to chemicals. In the first 2 days after laying it's better not to touch the coating. You can carefully walk on it from the 3rd day onwards. After a week you can do it quite freely. But it's still better to prevent the microcement from being damaged by hard objects. For example, it's better not to move furniture, but to carry it. If the furniture has metal legs, you should put special rubber or plastic plugs on them.

Daily care of microcement

The coating is easy and undemanding in maintenance. It can be moistened. But note that it's permeable to steam. This is a mandatory requirement for any interior coating. Therefore, microcement must dry out during the day so that it doesn't lose its good looks. The care of microcement is similar to the care of natural wood parquet. From time to time it should be washed with neutral PH soap and a mop or soft sponge. To prevent soap from destroying the protective film, you shouldn't leave it on too long. We recommend environmentally friendly products designed for the care of microcement. Ecoclean for daily cleaning and Ecoclean Pro for removing particularly difficult and stubborn stains. They can be used 2 weeks after the application of the top coat. Ecoclean is the ideal product for the maintenance of microcement coatings. It contains highly active organic and inorganic elements capable of effectively breaking down stains of any degree of difficulty. It's a concentrate that is diluted in water before use and then applied to the surface with a mop or sponge. Ecoclean Pro is an aerosol that is sprayed directly onto the coating. It's rubbed into the coating with a cloth and then thoroughly washed off with water. Important: Ecoclean and Ecoclean Pro can only be applied two weeks after applying Topsealer WT One Coat or Topsealer WT Quick Dry. Both products effectively remove dirt and fungal spores from the surface of the microcement. They do not produce the soapy or limey residue that other detergents can leave behind. Their advantages are:

- environmentally friendly;

- biodegradability;

- High effectiveness against stubborn dirt.

Memo. To extend the life of your coating and keep it looking its best, follow 3 rules.

You need to:

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture on microcement. Do not place flower pots, buckets, bowls, etc. on it without a ventilated tray.

Avoid contact with abrasive substances (sand, stones, hard brushes, etc.). Lay out a dirt mat at the entrance to prevent this.

Do not use aggressive chemical liquids containing chlorine, bleach, ammonia, etc. when cleaning microcement.

Failure to follow these simple rules will result in the formation of microcracks in the coating. Over time, these can lead to spalling and cracking. However, one of the advantages of microcement is that damage that occurs for any reason can be repaired.

Periodic Maintenance

The systematic use of special acrylic waxes further extends the life of the microcement. They strengthen the coating without disturbing the structure, fill the pores and form another thin protective film on the surface. This gives the microcement an extra shine and enhances its properties. For households we recommend Ceraciment, a special composition of natural waxes with additives for floor care. Thanks to its unique formula, it penetrates deep into the surface, thus not only protecting the microcement more effectively, but also helping to maintain its original shine.

Ceraciment:

increases the durability of the microcement coating;

ensures its long-lasting and natural brightness;

is easy and economical to apply.

Ceraciment is a thick liquid. It is added to water in an amount of 20-25 ml/7L to wipe the coating. If you want to maintain a proper microcement coating in a public building with high traffic, we recommend Ceraciment PRO. It is a wax with a metallic sheen designed to withstand considerable stresses. Ceraciment PRO is highly resistant to abrasion and gives the coating an intense shine with a metallic appearance. Among its advantages, it does not give the coating a yellowish tint, but makes the original color brighter and richer. Ceraciment PRO is used without dilution and applied in 2 coats. It is also extremely economical to use. Only 20-40 ml/m2 is needed for a machine application. Ceraciment and Ceraciment PRO waxes are applied to sealant and varnish previously coated and thoroughly cleaned with Ecoclean or Ecloclean PRO microcement. They can also be applied by a machine. In this case, the product consumption is slightly higher. Depending on the intensity of use of the microcement surface, the waxing process should be repeated from time to time. Ceraciment and Ceraciment PRO are specially formulated for microcement coatings but are also good for the care of surfaces made of other materials. The Tceh studio will perform a professional laying of microcement on any surface in private or public premises. You can order coating of any complexity and design in all cities of Ukraine: Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Lutsk, Zhitomir, Chernihiv, Odesa, etc.
